How to get there
There are two main ways to get to O Grove by car, the AP-9 motorway, connecting with the O Salnés motorway or the road that connects Pontevedra to Sanxenxo PO-308. The A-6 motorway that connects Galicia with Madrid and central Spain is the perfect gateway to travel to O Grove, arriving to Vigo before taking the AP-9 motorway.
The best option to visit O Grove from the peninsula or from abroad is to first travel to Santiago de Compostela airport (Lavacolla airport) or Vigo airport (Peinador airport) and then reach the municipality by motorway, road or even by train or bus.
The bus station is located in Beiramar, around 100 m from the Town Hall. There are regular lines connecting different areas in the municipality with Pontevedra and Vigo.
During the summer months there are lines that connect Pontevedra with our wonderful beaches.
If you want to use this mode of transport, the nearest stations are those in Vilagarcía de Arousa and Pontevedra. The final leg of the journey must be made by car or bus.
Between vineyards, valleys and rivers, the Padre Sarmiento Route will take you into “the most picturesque region that you could ever imagine”, as described by the writer Emilia Pardo Bazán.
With views of the Pontevedra and Arousa Estuaries, you will discover the walk completed by Brother Martín Sarmiento in 1745 to earn the jubilee. This 190-kilometre walk crosses our beautiful coast, guiding you towards Santiago de Compostela.
